Wholesale Rules & Regulations:

These rules are subject to change at any time.  It is your responsibility as a registered customer of State Line Auto Auction to know and understand these rules.  In matters of interpretation of auction policies, the decision of auction management shall be final.

Decision by arbitrator.  ABS Lights are not arbitrable.

Any accepted price adjustment makes the transaction an ‘AS-IS’ sale.

Not arbitrable.

Air conditioning defects are not subject to arbitration, or reason for rejection.

Any single defect which the arbitrator deems to be less than $400 to repair is not a reject-able defect.  Items specifically mentioned as ‘reject-able’ or ‘non-reject-able’ in these rules take precedence over the $400 rule.

Arbitration form and road test must be completed within 60 minutes of purchase.  Failure to comply revokes buyers’ arbitration privilege.

In the event the vehicle goes to arbitration, both buyer and seller must await the decision of the arbitrator before leaving the premises.

Neither buyer, nor seller is allowed to ride in the vehicle with arbitrator.

The arbitrator will only inspect the defect(s) which are on the arbitration form.

Each vehicle is allowed one chance at arbitration.

If a price adjustment is agreed upon, the vehicle becomes ‘as-is’ property of the buyer, and is not subject to any further arbitration or adjustments.

Once the vehicle is paid for, it becomes the ‘as-is’ property of the buyer with no further negotiation or arbitration possible, except for frame damage (if applicable).

Any vehicle deemed unsafe to drive by the arbitrator is reject-able.

The decision of the arbitrator is final, and binding to both buyer and seller.

Vehicles sold for $2,500 or less with ‘NO LIGHT’ or ‘RED LIGHT‘ are ‘as-is’.

Vehicles sold with ‘NO DRIVE’ announcement are not eligible for arbitration.

Vehicles sold ‘as-is’ are subject to any and all physical and mechanical defects including but not limited to frame damage and rust.

All reconstructed, salvage, police, security, flood cars, clips, taxi cabs, antiques (over 15 years old), trucks larger than 1-ton, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, street rods, customs, boats, and other miscellaneous vehicle types are sold ‘as-is‘ regardless of price or announced conditions.

There are no required announcements in regard to drive-type; it is the responsibility of the buyer to know what they are bidding on.

Unsafe brakes are reject-able by the decision of teh arbitrator only.

Buyer is required to pay for purchases within 60 minutes.

Buyer is responsible for watching lights and listening to announced conditions as the vehicle is being sold.

Buyer must print and sign name on block ticket legibly.

Buyer is responsible for checking block ticket to be sure price and announced conditions are correct.

Buyer is responsible for checking vehicle prior to placing a bid.

Canceling sale numbers for pre-registered vehicles will be accepted up to 12:00 noon on Wednesday.  After Wednesday at noon on the week of the sale, dealers will be charged for numbers not canceled or not used.

Sale numbers are non-transferable.

No more than 2 numbers per lane may be canceled.

No cancellations in any of the express lanes.

Canadian history must be announced on model years 2020 and newer.

State Line Auto Auction will not accept Canadian titles.

Any missing catalytic converter must be announced subject to rejection.

Buyer has 1 week (7 days) to report missing catalytic converter with a cost of over $500.

Buyer must report missing catalytic converter as soon as possible.

Decisions regarding these systems and situations by management are final.

Children (under driver’s license age) are not allowed at State Line Auto Auction.

Not reject-able on four (4) year old models and older.

Vehicle must be capable of being test driven as determined by arbitrator.

Hidden damage must be announced on tops and sunroofs that are not visible, or tops sold in the ‘down’ position.

Visible defects in tops that are sold in the ‘up’ position are the responsibility of the buyer.

Convertable tops and sunroofs must work properly.

‘Current Year‘ is determined by calendar year ie. 2026 models do not become ‘current year’ until January 1, 2026.

This auction is for licensed and registered dealers only.

No rejection for universal joints, c.v. joints, or axle shafts.

Drive line noises that are inherent to Jeep / Dodge / Ford products.

Front and rear differentials are not eligible for arbitration.

Arbitration is not available for noises or defects that are inherent or typical for a particular model or manufacturer, unless deemed ‘excessive’ by the arbitrator.

Charging systems defects on vehicles four (4) years old and older are not subject to arbitration.

Vehicle must be capable of being test driven as determined by arbitrator.

All entirely electric vehicles are ineligible for arbitration and are ‘as-is’ regardless of price or announced conditions.

Hybrid vehicles’ on-board charging systems or batteries are ineligible for arbitration.

Any vehicle with a non-original engine must be announced, including diesel and CNG conversion.

Cracked or repaired cylinder blocks must be announced.

Arbitration is not available for noises or defects that are inherent or typical for a particular model or manufacturer, unless deemed ‘excessive’ by the arbitrator.

Intake leaks on GM products are ineligible for arbitration.

Cam-phaser noise on Ford products is ineligible for arbitration.

Vehicles with flood history must be sold ‘as-is’ regardless of price or announced conditions.

Vehicles with flood history must be announced as ‘Flood Damage’.

‘As-is’ vehicles with unannounced flood damage are reject-able for flood damage.

If valid evidence of unannounced flood damage is found after purchase, buyer must notify State Line Auto Auction immediately, and return the vehicle within twenty-one (21) days of purchase after which the vehicle becomes non-reject-able.

Frame damage (including rust) must be announced by seller regardless of repair state.

Radiator core support damage is ineligible for arbitration.

‘Bolted on’ components are ineligible for arbitration of frame damage.

Damage from normal use such as scrapes, hoist, or jack damage, and minor tie down damage is non-reject-able.

Unibody frame damage may consist of rotted out floor sections, or section repairs.

Full-framed vehicles are limited to frame rails, cross members, cab mount areas, and box floor supports over frame rails only.

If valid evidence of unannounced frame damage is found after purchase, buyer must notify State Line Auto Auction immediately, and return the vehicle no later than 12 noon the Friday immediately following the initial sale after which the vehicle becomes non-reject-able.

State Line Auto Auction office is open Monday - Friday from 8am to 5pm, and Saturday from 8am - 11am.

Redemptions are accepted by appointment only Monday - Friday 9am to 4pm only.

State Line Auto Auction security office is open 24 hours.

‘If’ bids are binding for two (2) hours unless otherwise specified and any previously agreed-upon variation of this must be noted on block ticket.

State Line Auto Auction, Inc. is not the bailor, owner, or seller of the motor vehicles consigned, and does not have control of or possession of same, and is not liable for theft, liability, or property damage to any vehicle while on auction property.

All buyers and sellers must understand and adhere to policies outlined in these rules and conditions outlined on the reverse side of the State Line Auto Auction Bill of Sale Contract (block ticket).

It is the sellers responsibility to make sure that all lights, announcements, year, and mileage are correct as the vehicle is on the auction block.

Vehicles sold under a ‘green light’ are considered sound.

Vehicles sold for under $2,500 with a green light are subject to all green light rules.

It is buyers’ responsibility to thoroughly check and road test before settlement to determine if the vehicle was properly represented.

Vehicles over 100,000 miles bay be sold under a green light, but must accept arbitration if applicable.

Green light vehicles must not have any single mechanical defect exceeding $300 to repair.

Items specifically mentioned as ‘reject-able’ and ‘non-reject-able’ elsewhere in these rules take precedence over the $300 rule.

Vehicles sold under a green light are subject to any and all visible defects.

Buyers of vehicles sold under a green light assume responsibility for any and all mechanical failure after leaving State Line Auto Auction, Inc. property.

Vehicles sold under a yellow light are considered to have a known defect.

Yellow light defects must be announced and include, but are not limited to defects in engine, transmission, differential, major exceptions to original or advertised production specification, (non-OEM engine or transmission, production build items added or deleted etc.), and frame damage (repaired or not) including rust.

Vehicles sold under a red light vehicles are considered ‘as-is’

Vehicles sold under a blue light is considered to be title absent or have title-related paperwork.

Seller has 14 days to produce a valid title and/or paperwork which must be turned into the State Line Auto Auction office no later than 12 noon on the second Friday following the initial sale day.

Vehicles lacking lien release must be sold as ‘title absent’.

Any vehicle which has been utilized as a ‘daily rental’ must be sold under a blue light if a rental company appears on the title.

Any cross-outs on titles, repossession papers, or affidavits attached to paperwork must be announced.

Vehicles with over 100,000 miles or T.M.U. (true mileage unknown) may be sold under a green light or a red light.

Any sale in which the auctioneer does not state the selling price of the vehicle is considered a ‘lot sale’.

All lot sales are conditional until the buyer pays for the vehicle and up until that time, the sale is not considered binding on either party.

Once a lot sale has been paid for, the vehicle becomes ‘as-is’ property of the buyer.

Lot sale vehicles are ineligible for arbitration unless the sale happens following the vehicle crossing the block, at which point arbitration is subject to the announced conditions noted on the auction block ticket.

All vehicles bought or sold on State Line Auto Auction, Inc. property must be processed through the auction office.  Failure to do so will result in suspension of trading privileges at State Line Auto Auction.

Lights and/or gauges must work properly as determined by arbitrator.

Post sale inspection must be initiated within one (1) hour from time of purchase.

State Line’s post sale office will make every effort to inspect vehicles in the order they are received efficiently and accurately, but delays are possible based on volume.

If a vehicle goes from ‘post sale’ to the arbitration department, every effort will be made to promptly reach a settlement decision.  In some instances, this time will exceed sixty (60) minutes from start to finish, but it is the intent of State Line Auto Auction, Inc. to make the proper decision concerning each and every vehicle.  We want to make the ‘right call’, and we appreciate your consideration.

The decision of State Line Auto Auction, Inc. management will be binding as it relates to both the buyer and seller.

Dealers wishing to pre-register vehicles may do so at 2pm Wednesdays in-person through close of business that week for the following week’s auction.

Numbers may be reserved by phone starting Monday mornings at 9am.

Numbers will not be issued Saturdays.

Numbers are non-transferable .

Any vehicle which arrives late and which will miss its pre-registered number by more than ten spaces will be placed at the end of its respective lane.

Plan to arrive early on sale day to allow ample time for vehicle processing and parking.

Please stay with your vehicle until it enters the registration building.

The first ten (10) vehicles to cross the block (first five (5) vehicles for fast lanes) and be properly represented are eligible for an automatic re-run if not sold.  The mere fact that a vehicle has a number of ten or lower does not qualify it for a re-run if the vehicle reaches the auction block late, or is not properly represented.

Automatic re-runs will begin one hour after the start of a vehicle’s particular lane.

Any vehicle may receive one free re-run at the end of the sale if not sold, and can be initiated by utilizing the re-run sheet located at the end of each lane.

Vehicle re-runs will be conducted in the order that the vehicles were signed up.

Any vehicle which has been arbitrated and rejected will be run at the end of sale if requested providing the reason for the arbitration and rejection is announced when the vehicle is re-run.

Previous rental vehicles must be announced only if the previous rental company appears on the title.  If the rental company is on the lean release, or if there is rental history, no announcement is required.

State Line Auto Auction is for licensed and registered dealers only.  Dealers bringing retail customers to State Line Auto Auction property will be barred from doing further business with State Line Auto Auction, Inc.

Do not stand in yellow zones, in front of vehicles, lie under vehicles, or rev engines.

Any vehicle judged to be unsafe by the auction may be denied the opportunity to run through the sale and/or may be subject to arbitration.

‘Salvage’ or ‘reconstructed’ vehicles must be announced as such and sold ‘as-is’.

Any prior salvage history must be announced even if vehicle has a ‘clean’ title.

‘R’ titled vehicles must be announced as reconstructed both verbally on the block and in vehicle announcements.

It is the selling dealer’s responsibility to announce their vehicles fairly and accurately.

It is the selling dealer’s responsibility to make sure all announcements and lights and descriptions of the vehicle (year, make, model, trim, mileage, etc.) are correct as the vehicle is auctioned.

It is the selling dealer’s responsibility to check the price on the sale ticket before signing to be sure it is correct.

It is the selling dealer’s responsibility to turn any and all legibly signed paperwork related to the sale in promptly.

In the event of a vehicle buyback, the selling dealer will be responsible for transportation expenses and any reasonable charges for work performed between purchase and buyback as solely determined by State Line Auto Auction, Inc. management.

If there is a dispute regarding selling price of a vehicle, the auctioneer’s word is final.

Over 100,000 miles, 200,000 miles etc. must be announced even if the vehicle is ‘true mileage unknown’.

True mileage unknown and over 100,000 miles are not the same and both must be announced separately with failure to do so resulting in a reject-able mis-representation of the vehicle in regard to arbitration.

Inaccurate odometer readings, as determined solely by State Line Auto Auction, Inc. on a measured mile basis, is a valid reason for rejection.

State Line Auto Auction, Inc. will not arbitrate or otherwise involve itself in mileage disputes on cars 2012 and older.

Function of speedometer and odometer must be announced if not working properly.

Jumpy or erratic speedometer needle is only a reason for rejection as determined by arbitration.

Vehicle is arbitrable if deemed ‘unsafe to drive’ at the sole discretion of State Line Auto Auction, Inc. arbitrators.

Steering defects must be announced as determined by SLAA arbitrators.

Altered suspension, including but not limited to any amount of lifting or lowering, must be announced.

Air ride suspension defects as determined by SLAA arbitration must be announced.

No post sale guarantee.

Test drives are only allowed on sale day.

Seller must announce all salvage history, re-constructed titles, repossession paperwork, and municipal vehicles.

Repossession, re-constructed, salvage titles, and lien releases not present are considered the same as ‘title attached’.

Electronic lien releases must be announced.

Any cross-outs on the title, repossession paperwork, or affidavits attached to paperwork must be announced.

Any and all ‘title brands’ which may affect a vehicle’s value must be announced.  These include, but are not limited to manufacturer buy-back, lemon law, rental/for hire, reconstructed, stolen, and insurance transfers.

State Line Auto Auction, Inc. is not responsible for titles mailed from auction and not received.

If title (including lean releases) does not accompany vehicle at time of sale, it must be announced.

Seller has fourteen (14) days to produce title, regardless of announcements made from auction block.

All title absent paperwork must be turned into the office no later than 12 noon on second friday following sale.

Buyer beware: do not invest money in any title attached vehicle until title is received.  SLAA will not be responsible for money spent on vehicle improvements or transportation.  Do not sell (wholesale or retail) any vehicle before receiving its paperwork.

Vehicles may not be returned if the title has already been mailed from SLAA.

Any vehicle returned must be in the same condition as when it was sold.

The above conditions also apply to any title attached deals not originally represented on auction block as such but discovered afterword that good title does not accompany vehicle - the acceptance of this condition is solely up to the buyer.  If accepted, above conditions apply as stated.

Any vehicle sold TMU may be sold ’as-is‘ or ‘green light’

Transmissions must shift properly in accordance with mileage and be considered ‘normal’ in operation for the type of vehicle at the sole discretion of SLAA arbitrator.

Excessive whine or noise may be subject to arbitration at the discretion of SLAA.

All vehicles selling for $2,500 or less with no light are considered as-is regardless of vehicle condition.

Vehicles selling for less than $2,500 or less may be run with a green light.

State Line Auto Auction, Inc. reserves the right to reject the sale of any vehicle which has altered, missing, or questionable identification at the sole discretion of SLAA management.

Re-assigned VINs assigned by any state must be announced.  Once announced, these re-assigned VINs will not be a valid reason for rejection.

Any vehicle on State Line Auto Auction, Inc. property is subject to inspection by New York State Police, FBI, and the National Auto Theft Bureau.

Visible defects, including but not limited to cracked glass, windshield, interior defects, etc. are not arbitrable.

The auction assumes no responsibility for warranty books, key fobs, navigation discs, ect.

SLAA does not guarantee the year of any foreign car, antique vehicle, boat, custom car, street rod, tractor, RV, large truck, motorcycle, camper, or other miscellaneous vehicles, and will not become involved in any dispute.
